Product Information

Webb Ranch Premium Organic Compost is currently out of season.

Webb Ranch Premium Organic Compost is screened and aged over 6 months. Compost is weed-free, smells earthy, and is an invaluable addition to any garden because it improves soil structure. The primary soil food is organic matter and compost is the best way to provide it— making Webb Ranch Compost a key component of successful gardens. Webb Ranch Premium Organic Compost is made from fine wood shavings, horse manure, hay, and green waste from Webb Ranch’s organic farm. It is ideal for use in vegetable gardens, flower beds, around trees and shrubs, and on lawns. Add it to the soil at the time of planting, side-dress your existing plants, or use it as a surface mulch and watch your garden thrive!

How to Use:

Amending Soil: Work 1-2 inches of compost into the top 3-5 inches of soil.

Growing Fruit and Vegetables- Spread 1-2 inches of compost on top of the garden bed in the Fall. Till it into the soil in the Springtime. Add ½ inch of compost monthly as plants begin to grow quickly.

Lawn: For new lawns, add up to 3 inches of compost into the soil and till to a depth of 5-7 inches. For existing lawns, incorporate 1 inch of compost into the bald spots before reseeding. You can also top dress lawns with ¼ inch of finely screened compost. Rake the compost evenly throughout the grass area. Over time the compost will improve the soil, reducing the need for other products.

New and Existing Plants: When planting, work 1 inch of compost into the top 2 inches of soil in and around the planting hole. Apply 1-2 inches of compost as a mulch around new and existing plants in early Spring or Fall to improve the soil, prevent weeds, and help retain moisture. You can also gently till compost into the soil once or twice a year. Do not place compost directly against the stem or trunk of a plant, which could cause rot or invite pests.

Compost Coverage: 2 cubic feet of compost will cover approximately 24 square feet at a depth of 1 inch.
