Product Information

Virgin Sandy Loam is ideal for backfilling, anywhere deep areas need to be filled without organic matter. Use the Virgin Sandy Loam to amend organic matter like compost to make your own soil mix composition. Often, Sandy Loam is referred to as Topsoil, however, this is a misnomer. Topsoil is the top several inches of the soil that is comprised of the parent rock material and organic matter that has broken down over time. If the topsoil comes from a flood plain, it will also include additional clays and silts that have been carried down through rainwater. Topsoil is not something that is readily available for purchase today. When you purchase topsoil, you are purchasing a combination of sand, silt, and clay which goes by the names of Sandy Loam, Loamy Sand, or Sandy Clay Loam depending on the percentage of sand, silt, and clay in the soil. These soils will contain very little organic matter. The soil will either be recycled material from construction sites or extracted from soil pits or hillsides. Lyngso’s Virgin Sandy Loam comes from a hillside excavation, therefore, is not a recycled material and the rating varies from a Sandy Loam to a Sandy Clay Loam classification. We sell the Virgin Sandy Loam in one cubic foot bags, we supply the bags, you fill them. For larger areas, you will want to purchase the Sandy Loam by the cubic yard. We can load your truck or for a fee, have us deliver the Sandy Loam to your home or job site. For orders of 20 yards or more please contact us for direct pricing.
